#29 - Kubernetes Release 1.15

-

Getup

After some time without releasing another kubicast we are back, and what happened while we were offline? Kubecon Europe and we didn't go :( but several friends from the community were there like Jeferson (LinuxTips) and as is already customary they share the more than 340 videos on Youtube, you who are in SP and reading this before 07/23/2019 can register and participate in the Cloud Native SP meetup which will take place on 07/25/2019 where @RicardoKatz will share the highlights and still others will share much more!

Well we started this episode with the news of the release of HAProxy 2.0 and we talked a bit about using ingress controllers VS Cloud Providers Load Balancers, a subject that is even worth a #kubicast of its own.

As the main theme we have release 1.15 which brings improvements in 3 main points:

  • Stability

  • Test Coverage

  • Extension (CRD)

Thus we can see that kubernetes has been becoming more mature every day and this has been shown in its code, just as it has always been shown in its documentation and approach. For the first time we had user contributions in greater numbers than those of companies, which demonstrates the commitment of the community which is also represented by the movement of the code of these companies to an area separate from the core.

Another significant change that should receive your attention is the deprecation of some APIs such as apps/v1 for Deployments, DaemonSets and ReplicaSets, networking.k8s.io/v1 for NetworkPolicies, among others here.

We also talked about DNS Cache and PID Limit, stability and performance features, and especially about CRD which deserves one or more episodes.

Our recommendations for the week are:

João : Aladdin Live Action

Lucas: Pretinho Básico

That's all for today, until next time and don't forget to share! #kubicast
