Every year, Gartner names “Cool Vendors” in key technology segments and publishes a series of reports highlighting new, exciting and innovative companies. This year, Getup was recognized as a Cool Vendor — definitely great news.
For those who haven’t heard about Gartner, they are the world’s leading research and advisory company. The company provides business leaders across all major functions in every industry and enterprise size with the objective insights they need to make the right decisions.
The recognition comes one year after we decided to follow OpenShift steps and adopt kubernetes, an open source technology developed by Google that has more than 10 years of application management experience running on containers.
Back then, we believed that new technologies such as kubernetes, containers and the cloud-native movement had great potential for transforming the way we run software and operate infrastructure. Today, Kubernetes is the #1 project in number of contributions at Github and the number of cases with companies of all sizes and from several industry segments has confirmed our belief.
Gartner report mentions that “containers with orchestration and automation tools can also enable improvements in the entire application life cycle, rather than just IT operational efficiency, which is vital for the success of bimodal IT. Getup Cloud started exploring these capabilities by allowing clients to access some of the container features, such as application provisioning, scalability and “self-healing”.”
For us, the recognition reinforces that we are on the right track in seeking to connect open source technologies and large companies, and showing that technology can be a differentiating factor in business strategy.

WE MAKE THE INFRASTRUCTURE INVISIBLE
It is not the infrastructure that defines who wins, it is what you build on top of it and at what speed. At Getup, we believe that software development can be a differentiating factor in companies and in people’s lives.
