Day #2

On the second day of KubeCon NA, Kubicast gathered a group to comment on what they found most interesting there!

Sense of collaboration was the phrase most frequently mentioned by the professionals! And we, Brazilians, have talent and we can contribute immensely to the Open Source community, whether with code, documentation, glossary, translation to PT/BR, or blog posts.

Day #3

Directly from the sponsors showroom at KubeCon, João Brito gathered all the Brazilians he met there to find out how they pronounce “Kubectl” and what was the coolest thing they saw on the third day of the event!

Day #4

Before heading to the KubeCon party, João Brito and Adonai Costa review the fourth day of the event in Detroit.

From the keynotes, the highlights went to the live coding sessions of Function, Knative, and Argocd.  Ricardo Rocha from CERN talked about the simplicity of tools for Kubernetes and the lightness of container images.

There was also a talk that raised the importance of contributing to Kubernetes and other CNCF projects. Currently, only 1% of the community contributes to Kubernetes! Also, there was a presentation on the pillars of cloud native, new CNCF projects, OpenTelemetry, and Linkerd.

To wrap things up, our Brazilian colleagues, Ricardo Katz and Carlos Panato, showed in a humorous talk: why does it take so long for a feature to go into Kubernetes?

Day #5

In a farewell mood, the Kubicast brings the main highlight left for the Brazilians who visited the event: Open Source projects are meant for contribution, in any way you can! And, as previously mentioned, we, Brazilians, are amazing and we can do this through code review, translation into PT/BR, suggestions in the glossary, etc. By contributing to open source projects, we gain in quality and speed!

Another highlight was the richness of being able to meet and get to know community colleagues in person! This strengthens our bonds and sense of unity! Speaking of unity, as Duffie Cooley said in his talk, the strength of the community lies in the combination of each one's knowledge!
