In episode 153 of Kubicast, we have an incredible conversation that promises to transform the way we look at feedback in our work environments. Kubicast brought on André Brandão to address this crucial subject. Right at the beginning, both remind us that feedback doesn't have to be a scary monster. André can be heard emphasizing: “Let's avoid judgments, let's focus on behavior and not on the person!” This approach is fundamental to easing tension in situations that can often be stressful. Feedback should be a growth tool, not a moment of discomfort.
One of the coolest parts of the conversation was the exchange of practical tips on how to give and receive feedback. André suggested that when we provide feedback, we must always be specific. He says: “When you say someone needs to improve, ask yourself: in what exactly?” This tip is extremely valuable, as it helps us avoid vague comments that lead nowhere and often only add confusion to the situation.
Another highlight was when they talked about the responsibility that each of us must take for our own development. André got real by stating: “If we don't take charge of our growth, who will?” This statement makes us reflect that, to continuously evolve, we need to claim our space and actively strive.
To close, how about we take advantage of these valuable teachings? We need to enter our meetings ready to give feedback constructively and also leave room to receive criticism. André's tip for creating a safe space during these interactions is essential: “Create a safe environment where people feel comfortable sharing their opinions.”
This episode of KUBICAST worked as a real guide on how to transform feedback into something positive and useful. So, here's a tip: let's listen and apply these learnings, because feedback is, above all, a gift. See you in the next episode!
